Rona's puppies to Z

All the puppies one day old

Did anyone notice that when the pups were born, two looked a slightly different colour?
I noticed it at birth but wasn't sure. At 24 hours of age the difference was starting to become more obvious.
YES, we do indeed have two GREY puppies. To my knowledge the first to be born since my A litter in 2005. Above is one Fawn pup and a Grey pup in front. Both the Greys are bitches, Pink and Purple collars (as will soon be seen).
Grey with black mask is perfectly acceptable according to the KC breed standard which allows for Malinois (and Tervueren) in either Red, Fawn or Grey.

Again this blue vetbed distorts the colours! The is the Grey bitch (pink) suckling, but she isn't THAT grey for real, of course.

2 days old and now the pups have paper collars on so they are easy to tell apart. To re-cap:
First born dog is GREEN
Second born bitch (Grey) is PINK
Third born bitch is PURPLE (also Grey)
Fourth born dog is BLUE
Fifth born bitch is RED
Sixth born bitch is YELLOW
Seventh born dog is ORANGE

And this colour vetbed makes photos a lot better! It is now very obvious that two pups are Grey. (They will either stay a salt and pepper kind of grey as adults, or they will turn into a very pale creamy fawn -which is more likely.)

5 days old and we have new collars. (Same colours still apply.) I did not like the paper ones. They were reinforced, I think with plastic, and they could not be adjusted. They also could not be removed easily, it needed scissors. As the pups are growing so quickly, the collars will quickly become too tight, so I bought some fabric velcro ones that can be adjusted on a daily basis, and can be taken off quickly. Much better!
